One of our favorite things about engagement sessions is getting to know our couples ahead of time and using that information as inspiration for their photo shoot…Philip & Lauren’s session was exactly that! They enjoy going to wine tastings and actually are getting married this year at a local Winery, so a wine & cheese tasting by the lake was perfect. Then after I heard Philip proposed while the two of them were painting a sunset on canvas (another one of their favorite hobbies), we decided to have a mini paint session at sunset during our shoot…and even more fun, a paint war ;)
Read MoreSometimes our couples choose to make their sessions a little more personal and bring us to their home turf! Mike & Joanna love the home they’ve made together in Pittsburgh, so we had fun exploring a local park, neighborhood, and of course those infamous yellow bridges, including one with a love lock collection!
Read More2020 was quite the year for our bride & grooms! As if planning a wedding during a pandemic wasn’t enough, how about being thrown a new restrictions curve ball two days before your event?! Corey and Rachel had an emotional rollercoaster during their journey to the aisle, but they ended up with gorgeous weather and a cozy, intimate gathering with a select few family & friends.
Read MoreNathan and Alexis had gorgeous weather like our other October weddings this year, but their day was unique to them in so many special ways. Butterflies cascading in Alexis’ hair, rose gold and floral rings, lanterns for the bridesmaids instead of bouquets, a 33 year old cake knife and serving set from the parents of the bride’s wedding, and so much more!
Read MoreAs if being thrown the curve ball of COVID during wedding planning wasn’t enough, Brenden and Mackenzie also found out they would be bringing a beautiful baby boy into the world, just one month before their big day…that actually made for TWO big days! But Kenzie is one sweet and strong momma…determined to marry the man that she loves and make their wedding happen as planned. They could not have asked for a better Fall day, sunshine and 70 degree weather! But even though the sun was shining bright, Kenzie stole the show as new momma and stunning bride, she truly was glowing <3
Read MoreSometimes things don’t go as planned, but they can be all the more special when they don't…not to mention, utterly romantic and memorable. Freddy & Diane had a few changes along the way when it came to the venue and guest count for their wedding day. But their final decision to host their immediate family at the gorgeous Maple Shade Mansion provided for an unforgettable day, as these two blended their families together!
Read MoreI couldn’t wait to photograph this wedding, because I knew bride, Kristy, has been hard at work during quarantine custom making all of her table numbers, centerpieces, signs, and other decor through her wood making business. Beautiful craftsmanship and beautiful day, though it quite possibly could have been the windiest day we have ever photographed a wedding! But we took care of our couple and made sure you couldn’t even tell in the photos ;)
Read MoreAs if Dan + Yvonne didn’t have enough to deal with this year when it came to wedding planning, the weather forecast decided to throw a hurricane into the mix! And in 14 years of shooting weddings, there aren’t many times we can remember the weather calling for 70% chance of rain & thunderstorms the night before the wedding AND THEN dropping down to 20% and cloudy when we woke up the next day!! Gorgeous blue skies, white fluffy clouds, and sunshine all day with about 5 minutes of rain during the ceremony, but that’s supposed to be good luck, right?! ;)
Read MoreTyler & Ann were yet another one of our couples that had to move their Spring wedding to late Summer. While they rolled with the punches 2020 provided, they went above & beyond to care for their guests that came out to shower them in love & celebration on their big day that finally arrived!
Read MoreTyler & Johanna’s day was a perfect example of making a compromise in the face of all that’s happened in 2020. They decided to have an intimate ceremony this year and will have a full reception with family & friends next year on their 1st Anniversary…technically 1 day shy ;) No matter what our couples end up doing for their wedding, these special touches are what fill the day with love & emotion: Johanna and her sisters each wore a special piece of jewelry that was passed down from their late grandmother AND Tyler’s brother, who unfortunately couldn’t make it due to traveling circumstances, wrote a letter to the groom wishing him well on the big day <3
Read MoreIt took a LOT of rearranging and reworking their plans to make this day happen, but Devon + Victoria’s wedding showed 2020 who’s boss! They had perfect weather, stunning scenery, and all the love & happiness that a wedding day should be filled with!
Read MoreSam & I love exploring new locations with our couples, it’s so inspiring for us and what we see through our lens…golden hour in a field, a sunset peeking through the trees, and an evening stroll creekside! We ALSO love brainstorming prop ideas with our couples to add that personal touch to the session. Sarah brought red roses, just like Andrew did on their first date! Plus the leather album that Andrew gave on her birthday that he used for a surprise proposal <3 So romantic!
Read MoreThe world is all kinds of turned upside down in 2020, but Nathaniel + Kristin’s wedding brought out all the feels of celebration and remembering what matters at the end of the day: love & family by your side.
Read MoreWhen you hear that the couple you are photographing next got engaged on the beach, exciting plans for a Sunset session go under way! And what a dreamy session it was!!
Read MoreWell our first wedding couple of the season had quite the number of hurdles to overcome! Of course, a date change from April to June due to quarantine. But also the bride’s daughter being unable to attend with the date change, the groom’s mother having a trip to the hospital the night before, and on top of all that, the power went out for the first part of the reception! Dan + Cristy fought their battles to make it down that aisle, no doubt, but they managed to pull off a wedding filled with thoughtful details & decor, as well as a love between the two of them that was evident above all else that day!
Read MoreWe’ve been waiting for this engagement shoot for 6 years! That’s odd to say, right? ;) We actually photographed the wedding of Yvonne’s brother in 2014 and she said as soon as her time came to get married, that she wanted Sam & I to shoot her wedding too! And after 10 years of dating Dan, we joked with Yvonne, what a year to pick to finally get married, haha. But Yvonne said she wouldn’t have their love story any other way <3
Read MoreSometimes a photo shoot is well worth the wait! For Dustin & Elizabeth’s session, we not only had to reschedule due to quarantine, but also because all the barber shops were closed and Dustin, understandably, didn’t want the hair of a hippy for photos ;) But what did all that rescheduling mean? These gorgeous flower bushes were in full bloom for our shoot! Along with a beautiful Spring day, complete with sunshine, blue skies, and white fluffy clouds. All the stunning scenery these two were hoping for!
Read MoreWhat a FUN couple for our first Engagement Session of 2020, and well worth the WAIT! We had to reschedule again & again due to that unpredictable western PA weather and, of course, due to COVID-19. So why not have a little fun with it? ;) I love the cute masks Eric & Erin brought to the shoot! And after some pre-session chatting, Erin & I thought a few props would add a little fun & personality to their photos, by representing how they met…she got a new job as a Teacher and Eric was the Aide in her classroom!
Read More“Flirt like you’re in a Hallmark Christmas Movie” ;) That’s what I told Curtis + Lauren for their engagement photos while they baked cookies! Man, was I excited for this session, adding a new option for our couples with Lifestyle Sessions…comfy, cozy at home, doing the things you love to do as a couple: playing with the dog, baking in the kitchen, cuddling on the couch, slow dancing barefoot, sipping wine or hot chocolate OR BOTH =D
Read MoreOh, I love a good prop and Justin & Kristy came well equipped for their engagement session! These two are laid-back, fun-loving, and all kinds of happy and in-love!!
